QUALITY ASSURANCE SURVEILLANCE PLAN
FOR APPLICATION OF CARBARYL
FOR CONTROL OF BARK BEETLES
Inspections The Contracting Officer, the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and/or the Contracting Officer’s Representative’s Inspector (CORI) shall make periodic inspections. The Contractor or his representative is encouraged to observe the inspection and will receive inspection summaries upon request.
Inspection of Tagged Trees
Tagged trees located in the project areas will be checked to ensure that each tree designated for insecticide application is treated and also to ensure that no additional trees are treated. Perimeters of the work areas will not be marked, but maps of tagged trees and global positioning system (GPS) coordinates of each tagged tree will be made available to applicators so that they may identify treatment trees.
Inspection of Equipment and Calibration The Contracting Officer or the Contracting Officer’s Representative will at the beginning of application of insecticide in any new area check to ensure that the equipment of the contractor is properly calibrated and tank mix concentrations are accurate so that the proper amount of active ingredient is applied.
Timing of Application The Contracting Officer or the Contracting Officer’s Representative will coordinate and consult with the contractor to ensure that applications of insecticide do not occur at times when weather will, or likely will, render the insecticide ineffective. Insecticide should not be applied prior to heavy weather events where runoff is likely to carry off the active ingredient from the project area.
