A1. There is no minimum required R value.

Q2. Is a coverboard such as 1/4" Densdeck required for puncture and hail resistance?

A2. The coverboard is help with puncture and hail resistance.

Q3. What color EPDM is required, black or white?

A3. The EPDM should be black.

Q4. Is new parapet wall coping required?

A4. There will need to be new drip edge installed instead of coping is required at parapet wall.

Q5. What is the existing substrate that will be fastened to and do you know in what condition the substrate is?

A5. The existing substrate is structural concrete decking.

Round 3

A1. Is there structural slope to the concrete deck?

Q1. There is no structural slope to the concrete as far as I know.

A2. Who is responsible for raising units if found to be less than 8” minimum on curbs? For example, the exhaust fan located in lower walk-way immediately to the south of Safe Zone 2.

Q2. It will be the contractor’s responsibility to raise the units.

A3. On deleted HVAC curbs are we to fill the void or cap/flash the existing curb? If removing the curbs and repairing deck can plate steel be used?

Q3. Any HVAC curbs that are removed, the decking will need to be repaired with steel decking being an option.

A4. Is this project tax exempt?

A. Coordinate installing roofing system components so insulation is not exposed to precipitation or left exposed at the end of the workday.

B. Install tapered insulation under area of roofing to conform to slopes indicated.

ETHYLENE-PROPYLENE-DIENE-MONOMER (EPDM) ROOFING 075323 - 6

C. Adhesive Attachment: Apply in accordance with membrane manufacturer's instructions and recommendations; "walk-in" individual roof insulation boards to obtain maximum adhesive contact.

1. Fasten insulation to resist uplift pressure at corners, perimeter, and field of roof.

D. Install only as much insulation as can be covered with the completed roofing system before the end of the day's work or before the onset of inclement weather.

E. Lay roof insulation in courses parallel to roof edges.

F. Neatly and tightly fit insulation to all penetrations, projections, and nailers, with gaps not greater than 1/4 inch. Fill gaps greater than 1/4 inch with acceptable insulation. Do not leave the roofing membrane unsupported over a space greater than 1/4 inch.

3.3 ADHERED MEMBRANE ROOFING INSTALLATION

A. Adhere roofing over area to receive roofing according to membrane roofing system manufacturer's written instructions. Unroll membrane roofing and allow to relax before installing.

B. Accurately align roofing, and maintain uniform side and end laps of minimum dimensions required by manufacturer. Stagger end laps.

C. Bonding Adhesive: Apply to substrate and underside of roofing at rate required by manufacturer, and allow to partially dry before installing roofing. Do not apply to splice area of roofing.

D. In addition to adhering, mechanically fasten roofing securely at terminations, penetrations, and perimeters.

E. Adhesive Seam Installation: Clean both faces of splice areas, apply splicing cement, and firmly roll side and end laps of overlapping roofing according to manufacturer's written instructions to ensure a watertight seam installation. Apply lap sealant and seal exposed edges of roofing terminations.

1. Apply a continuous bead of in-seam sealant before closing splice if required by roofing system manufacturer.

F. Tape Seam Installation: Clean and prime both faces of splice areas, apply splice tape, and firmly roll side and end laps of overlapping roofing according to manufacturer's written instructions to ensure a watertight seam installation. Apply lap sealant and seal exposed edges of roofing terminations.

C. Flash penetrations and field-formed inside and outside corners with cured or uncured sheet flashing.

D. Clean splice areas, apply splicing cement, and firmly roll side and end laps of overlapping sheets to ensure a watertight seam installation. Apply lap sealant and seal exposed edges of sheet flashing terminations.

E. Terminate and seal top of sheet flashings.

F. Roof Drains:

1. Taper insulation around drain or thru-wall scuppers to provide smooth transition from roof surface to drain. Use specified pre-manufactured tapered insulation with facer or suitable bonding surface to achieve slope; slope not to exceed manufacturer's recommendations.

2. Position membrane, then cut a hole for roof drain to allow 1/2 to 3/4 inch of membrane to extend inside clamping ring past drain bolts.

3. Make round holes in membrane to align with clamping bolts; do not cut membrane back to bolt holes.

4. Apply sealant on top of drain bowl where clamping ring seats below the membrane

5. Install roof drain clamping ring and clamping bolts; tighten clamping bolts to achieve con-stant compression.

G. Flashing at Penetrations: Flash all penetrations passing through the membrane; make flashing seals directly to the penetration.
