ANSWERS 1/18/2018
Question: The submersible pressure transducer in spec section 260902-1/4 states it needs to be FDA approved and ask for a Teflon coating on the cable. Our vendor contacted the manufacture and came back with this response below. is FDA approval needed and or the Teflon coated cable?
Also they require a 10 piece minimum for the special pressure range. Please advise.
Additionally the manufacturer does not have a FDA approved or Teflon cable material, so they cannot comply with the specs.
Answer:
1.01 SECTION 260902 SUBMERSIBLE LEVEL TRANSDUCER
A. Section 260902 2.01 Q For Potable Water level transducer, replace part number:
Gems Model 2600BGF1009M3GBxxx with the following part number:
B. Gems Model 2600BGF1509M3HB001 – down-ranged to 0-10 psi and first 20ft of cable to be Teflon coated. (cable length is 15 meters (49.2 ft)
C. The remainder of this section 260902 is unchanged.
D. This transducer is a modified part with additional Teflon coating added to the first 20
ft. of cable.
E. A Gems distributor that can provide this modified transducer is:
1. Ewing-Foley, Inc.
2. 10516 NE 37th Circle
3. Kirkland, WA 98033
4. (425) 822-9666
5. Direct: (425) 893-1410
F. Other submersible transducers that meet this specification will also be accepted for review.
Question: In specifications under the (DC to Frequency Converter) INTEGRATOR, they are calling for Wilkerson MM7501. That unit is obsolete with no replacement at this time and I do not see and or equal for the product. Please advise.
Answer:
1.02 SECTION 260900 2.31 INTEGRATOR (DC TO FREQUENCY CONVERTER
A. Section 260900 2.31 A12 Replace part number:
“Wilkerson MM7501 integrator” with the following part number
B. Action PAK DC to Frequency Converters Model AP7501-6061-1 C. Provide an 11 pin base for panel mounting with this unit. (Original unit had 8 pin base) D. Modify drawings to reflect different relay base pin configuration.

E. Provide detailed project specific calibration instructions as required in section 2.31B F. Unit shall meet these following specifications: Replace section 2.31A1-12 with the following specification:
1. Input Impedance:
2. Voltage Input: Greater than 100Kohms
3. Current Input: Less than 500mV shunt @ full scale (e.g. 20W for 20mA) 4-20ma input, relay dry contact output.
4. Input Protection: Withstands 200% of span
5. Linearity (Best Straight Line & Linear Input): 0.25% of span, typical
6. Low Input Cutout: Adjustable, 0-10% of span (factory set at 1%),
7. LED cutout indication
8. 11 pin octal plug in base for connections, provide matching relay base.
9. Output: AP7500: Square-wave, 0/6V, 1:1 mark/ space ratio, source 10mA, sink
50mA. Provide mechanical relay output. Calibrate to match water meter flow, for 1 pulse per 100 gallons of flow.
10. Option C 50mA sink, 30V.
11. AP7501: Isolated DPDT relay contacts, rated 120VAC @5A or 28VDC @ 5A
(100mSec min. on time).
12. Contact Material: Silver Cadmium Oxide
13. Life: 105 operations at rated load
14. Response Time: 100 milliseconds typical, 200 milliseconds max
15. Over range Capability: Output is linear to 120% of input
16. Stability: Better than 0.05% of span per degree C
17. Common Mode Rejection: DC: > 100dB 60 Hz: > 80dB
18. Maximum Common Mode Voltage: 50V
19. Temperature Range: Operating: 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F) Storage: -20 to 85°C (-4 to 185°F)
20. Power: Consumption: 3W typical, 5W max
21. Standard: 120 VAC (±10%, 50-400Hz)
22. Weight: 0.62lbs
G. A distributor that can provide this integrator is:
1. CFM-SF, Inc
2. Martinez, CA, Irvine, CA
3. 815 Arnold Drive #118
4. Martinez, CA 94553
5. (925) 370-1500
