About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for Solicitation 12805B25Q0098, which addresses contractor questions about pesticide application services in Clay Center, NE.

The document clarifies that ground rig application is required rather than aerial application, with applications potentially occurring numerous times per week depending on weather conditions. The minimum application area is 160 acres at a time, though it can range up to 500 acres. The contractor must provide 24-48 hours notice before application. The burndown treatment (Item 1) must be applied separately from pre-emerge treatments (Items 2-4), and both pre-emerge and post-emerge items will be applied at separate times based on weather conditions. The document also specifies that the glyphosate requirement has been amended to specifically require Glyphosate 5.4 lbs formulation.

Questions and Answers

Solicitation 12805B25Q0098

Question 1: Would aerial (helicopter) application be an approved method?

Government Response: Ground rig is the preferred method, because some of the chemicals can’t be applied with aerial equipment.

Question 2: Due to our distance from the spraying locations, we are located in Florida, we are trying to understand how many potential separate applications will be conducted (for travel cost and availability, meeting the contract's requirement of notification of 24 to 48 hours).

Government Response: It’s hard to put guess the weather (wind, rain, temperature) but due to field conditions it could be numerous times a week.

Question 3: Will this contract consist of incremental spraying of various amounts of acres at a time, or will each "Item" be ready to be sprayed in its entirety?

Government Response: We usually schedule a minimum of 160 acres at one time, but some days there are

500 acres ready and some days there are only 160 acres ready.

Question 4: Can "Item 1 Burndown" be completed at the same time as "Items 2-4 Pre-emerge", or does it have the potential of being separate times?

Government Response: No, item one needs to be sprayed separately from Items 2-4.

Question 5: Will all "Pre-emerge items" be conducted at the same time or does it have the potential of being separate times?

Government Response: These will be separate times depending on weather.

Question 6: Will all "Post-emerge items" be conducted at the same time or does it have the potential of being separate times?

Government Response: These will be separate times depending on weather.

Question 7: The glyphosate listed in the bid does not provide the version. Please have the farm confirm the formulation. I expect they want a 5.4# product but any quoter needs that information so the purchaser is comparing apples to apples. Let me know if you have any questions."

Government Response: “Attachment 1 – Specifications,” and “Attachment 2 – Pricing” have been Amended to clarify the requirements as “Glyphosate 5.4 lbs.” All Amended language is highlighted in yellow.
