Q. CO.01 Grading notes #9 and 13. Will the government be requiring a 3rd party proctor to soil test at the government expense.
A. Density tes ng should be provided by the contractor at the contractor expense no third party needed.
Q. A102 General Note I and J specify that ASTM A53 Grade 13 pipe is required. This is not in line with what has been used on the existing fencing throughout the barn and adjacent barns. Oftentimes, for farm fencing, there is not a requirement for ASTM grade pipe because it is so expensive. Please verify if this requirement can be removed and instead require a wall thickness on the pipe.
A. Pipe needs to be equal or comparable to J55 or N80 structural pipe with wall thickness of .190
Q. Additionally, this is a black carbon pipe which does not match the existing type of fencing.
Please verify if new fencing should be painted to match other fencing at the barn and adjacent structures.
A. Paint to match color of existing corral with exterior grade paint. Remove all dirt and debris before application.
Q. Please verify if any groundcover is to be installed outside the pen area? There are requirements for erosion control measures to be in place, but when the project is completed and erosion control measures removed there is not a way to provide erosion control from what the plans show.
A. There will be no groundcover requirements for the contract.
Q. Please verify that the relocated water hydrants should be supplied as new and not actually re‐used.
A. New hydrants will be supplied by the contractor
