FY23 Construct Exterior Dirt Floor Pens Bd6218BEC16
Pre‐Bid Ques ons
Thursday, May 31th 2023
Q. On ver cal posts detail shows rebar, is it welded to post?
A. The pier is 1’‐0” in diameter. There is a 6” diameter “cage” fabricated of 4 ver cal rebars and horizontal es. This cage reinforces the concrete and is not welded to the 4” diameter posts. The cage provides tension resistance for the concrete. There should be about 1” clearance between the pipe and the cage.
Q. Do ver cal poles need caps?
A. Yes they need caps.
Q. We are having trouble iden fying “grade 13” post, could you provide us with a wall thickness required for the pipe?
A. This answer provided in previous responses. Pipe needs to be equal or comparable to J55 or N80 structural pipe with wall thickness of .190.
Q. Do you have a detail for gate latches/locks?
A. equal or comparable to 1” slam latches
Q. Hinges show ½” pins and 1” pipe, this might make it sloppy. Could we adjust the size of pin larger if needed?
A. Yes.
Q. What type of power supply is available (110‐120) and proximity to work site?
A. There are 110 outlets along the north wall and south pen headers. There is a 220 outlet on the north east corner of north wall.
Q. The drawings show the horizontal pipe rails cut into each ver cal post. However, on the exis ng fencing in many places the horizontal rails were welded to the sides of the ver cal posts. Please verify if it will be acceptable to match the installa on methods used in the photos.
A. It is acceptable to match installa ons methods of exis ng fencing.
Q. Please verify if the hose bibs are on well water or city water.
A. Well water
Q. The exis ng railing is suffering from rust and does not appear to have been primed prior to pain ng.
Please verify the intent is for a primer to be applied and then two coats of paint.
A. Part of answer provided from previous question. Paint to match color of existing corral with exterior grade paint. Remove all dirt and debris before application. Apply 1 coat primer and one coat paint or apply 1 coat of paint containing factory mixed primer and paint. All primer and paint to be applied for manufacturer’s specifications.
