About this file
This is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document dated June 11, 2026, clarifying technical specifications for heavy duty trailers required under solicitation 127EAY26Q0049. The document addresses specification discrepancies and detailed requirements for trailers destined for the Sierra National Forest and Klamath National Forest.
For the Sierra Trailer, the Q&A confirms that only one slide axle trailer is required under Item 0001, with Attachment 2 Slide Axle Additional Specifications taking precedence where specification conflicts exist between attachments. Safety chain requirements are specified as two chains of 70 grade rated to California GVWR standards, with crossed mounting under the tongue and no welded links permitted. Tie-down requirements consist of four D-rings positioned along frame rails and at front and rear corners, each with a minimum working load limit of 10,000 pounds. For the Klamath Trailer, clarifications specify that only the outer expandable deck boards (outrigger boards) are required to be Apitong material, the detachable gooseneck must feature removable shackles rather than fixed shackles, and 17.5 tires may be either 215-series or 235-series with both sizes being acceptable. This Q&A document serves as binding clarification to the original RFQ specifications and should be referenced by all quoters responding to the small business set-aside solicitation.
