Addional Quesons and Answers:
1. Can the Forest Service provide addional detail and informaon for Prestressed Bridges.
o Abutment details o Foundaon details including reinforcement.
o Number of spans o Deck treatment o Number of prestressed girders o Rail type
All the details needed for the bridge construcon are located in the drawings tled Proposed Road & Bridge Plans for Marshall Gulch.
2. Mulple secon of the Special provisions such as 03010 and 03600 reference to use of the FP- 03, when the current specificaon is the FP-14. Please confirm if the FP-03 or FP-014 is to be used for this project.
The drawings and specificaons for the bridge were developed before FP-14 was adopted by the Forest Service and the Region 3 Bridge Engineer approved the use FP-03 specificaon for this project. Link to FP-03: FP-03, USC | FHWA (dot.gov)
3. Does the Forest Service have any geotechnical reports or informaon that can be used to establish the required means and methods for the excavaon work? Will blasng be allowed?
A geotechnical evaluaon was performed by Ninyo & Moore. This report will be available to the contractor awarded the project. It is expected that the contractor will encounter competent bedrock that will require pneumac hammering and blasng. Blasng will be allowed between September 1st and March 1st. Prior to blasng, a blasng plan will need to be approved by the COR.
4. Can the Forest Service provide desired clearing limits. There are secons outside the construcon limits the may need to be cleared for safety concerns and areas within the construcon area that the forest service may want to conserve.
The contractor awarded the project will have the opportunity to walk the project area with the COR as part of the pre-construcon meeng. During this me the COR will be able to address safety concerns, answer quesons, and flag clearing limits as necessary.
5. Does the Forest Service want to salvage the large diameter mbers? If so does the Forest Service have a desired locaon where they should be taken?
Felled trees need to be cut to 16.5-foot lengths then hauled and decked at the staging area identified in the map included with this amendment.
6. Does the Forest Service want the Excess embankment excavaon material? If so can the Forest Serve provide the locaon where the material should be hauled.
Amendment 0004 https://highways.dot.gov/federal-lands/specs/fp-03-usc
Excess excavated material may be stockpiled at the staging area identified in the map included with this amendment.
7. Can the Forest Service provide at what site the relocated CXT restroom should be relocated too and at what site the new CXT restroom should be placed.
The new locaon for the vault restroom to be relocated is labeled on the drawing sheet included with this amendment.
