About this file

This document is an amendment to a federal solicitation for the Tonto Basin Ranger District's requirement to remove and replace four 120-gallon dual electric and solar water heater tanks with three 120-gallon electric water heater tanks at the 06 Apartments in the Tonto Basin Work Center Administrative Site in Arizona.

The amendment provides details on the site visit schedule, RFI responses, and other requirements such as the need for temperature pressure regulator valves, union and drain piping, temperature rated PEX piping, and removal of solar piping. It notes that free camping accommodations can be arranged for the contractor, and provides details on the door and water heater tank dimensions. The solicitation number is 127EAX24Q0026, it is a 100% small business set-aside using a best value technically acceptable approach, and the magnitude of the project is less than $25,000. Offers are due by June 11, 2024 at 1:00 pm MT.

Notes

• Remove 4 existing, old water heater tanks and replace with 3 new 120 gallon water heaters.

• New water heater tanks should be light-duty, commercially available, “off-the-shelf” for ease of future maintenance and parts replacement. Heavy duty commercial water heaters are not required.

• No electric circuit breaker or electrical shutoff upgrades needed.

• Circuit breakers for the water heaters are located across the parking lot in the fenced in transformer area.

• Circuits are 60 amp, 240 V, single phase.

• There are 3 existing electrical disconnects in the water heater room.

• Temperature pressure regulator valve, union and drain piping should be located behind the new tanks.

• Temperature rated pex piping is acceptable off the pressure release valve.

• Cap the solar plumbing up to the ceiling joist, and remove the solar piping below.

• Solar piping is water filled, not glycol.

• Leave the existing recirculation pump in place.

• The existing mixing valve will not be replaced in this project.

• Water shut-off valves are in the water heater room.

• Front gate will require access and laundry building has keypad contact, contractor will be required to coordinate access with the COR and Government Technical Monitor

• Free camping accommodations can be arranged with the Contractor awarded the project. The camping site will be at Windy Hill Campground Jackrabbit Loop, approximately 2 miles east of the project site. Free camping will only be valid during the project. More information about Windy Hill Campground can be found here: Windy Hill Campground, Tonto National Forest - Recreation.gov. The Contractor must notify the COR as soon as possible if they intend to camp during the project.

• The door into the water heater room is approximately 35” wide by 80” tall. The existing water heater tanks are approximately 29” diameter and 62” high.

• Bid bonds are not required.
