Contract Follow up questions

1. What is the distance that the reeds extend out into the water?

a. Distance varies due to water levels and access points, but is generally estimated to be between 15 and 30 feet from shore.

2. Could you provide more information on the riprap removal and replacement? Where exactly are the boulders being picked up from and moved to. Any estimates on the quantity of rip-rap to be moved?

a. Relocate rip rap boulders from the shoreline found in the middle section of the Boulder recreation site to the keyhole section of the shoreline at Boulder recreation site. There are currently no estimates on the amount of rip rap in the area, however, the shoreline where rip rap is located is estimated to be 530 feet long.

3. When removing the reeds 3’ below grade does 3’ of material need to be removed from the shoreline?

a. Yes, all reed removal should be dug down 3’ below grade, and then restored to original slope

4. Is it required to have bio friendly oil in equipment working near the water?

a. No it is not required

5. Can the larger rip rap boulders be used to backfill shoreline?

a. Rip rap boulders should be moved from the middle section of Boulder and relocated around the keyhole section of Boulder Rec site.

6. What depth should we dig to?

a. 3 feet below grade; can stop if bedrock is reached

7. Start date for project after selection?

a. Due to the need for closure of the Rec site while work is underway, the District would like to begin work after Labor Day.

8. The floating dock has reeds growing underneath and through it. How should we address that issue? Can the dock be relocated temporarily?

a. Remove reeds as close to the pier as possible without damaging the pier. The dock can’t be relocated so work will just need to be done around it.
