The work is incidental to exterior painting (pay item 008-099113) and requires replacement of existing bat exclusion and bird netting in perimeter eaves, utility chase venting, and other areas where netting currently exists. Product specifications require UV-stabilized, knotted polyethylene netting that is flame-resistant (270°F melting point), rot-proof, non-conductive, and stable in subzero temperatures. Bat netting must be 1/6 inch mesh size while bird netting must be 3/4 inch mesh size. Fastening materials include 5/8 inch galvanized staples, 1 inch thick wooden lath, and galvanized or stainless-steel metal screws with minimum 1 inch embedment depth. All products require submittal to the C.O. for approval prior to installation per Section 013000 Administrative Requirements. Installation must follow manufacturer's instructions. The document also includes three resolved RFIs clarifying that equivalent roofing products are acceptable, hazardous materials abatement is excluded from scope, and local building permits are waived for this federal facility with all work complying with applicable federal regulations and project specifications.
