Telephone requests for information will not be accepted or returned.

RFI #1 – Per Section 2735 Toilet Buildings 2735.2 Products, 2735.2.1 Vault Toilet Buildings

The specs call for a CXT Double Cascadian Vault Building. Specs call out Cedar Shake Roof. It also calls out batt/horizontal lap wall siding. CXT are precast buildings. Just to be clear, the roof and siding are pre-cast concrete not wood?

USFS Response – That is correct. The buildings are precast concrete. Cedar Shake Roof LOOK and bat/horizontal lap LOOK. Concrete is grained to appear like wood. CXT is listed as a manufacturer or approved equal.

RFI #2 – Item 2880 Install Stone Fire Ring. Question: Can the stone fire ring be built off site and then hauled to the site?

USFS Response – The stone fire rings may be built off site as long as the in-place product meets the requirements of the specifications in the contract.

RFI #3 – Sheet G-2, Note 3 states Contractor shall only install the picnic tables and food lockers at these campsites. Regarding the food lockers, we have identified a total of 8 on sheet G-2, 15 on G-3 and 5 on G-4 for a total of 28. The Schedule of Items states there are only 20. Please clarify the number of food lockers to include in this RFP.

USFS Response – The count you have is correct. There are 28 food lockers. The schedule of items will be revised.

RFI #4 – Sheet G-3, Campsite #13. Please clarify if there is a set of stairs at location between the picnic and parking area.

USFS Response – There are no steps at campsite #13. The ORAR Information Table-2 (Table-3 typo) including quantity of steps on Sheet G-3 is approximate and shall be field verified by the contractor and approved by the Forest Service.

RFI #5 – Sheet G-22, Note 4. Please clarify the quantity of 4 yard Dumpsters to be installed at each trash enclosure.

USFS Response – There are four 4-yard dumpsters in the contract. One 4-yard dumpster shall be installed at each trash enclosure.

FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY

RFI #6 – Sheets G-2, G-3 and G-4, General Notes state that the Forest Service will identify in the field the existing trees and rock features to be protected during construction. Please provide specific instructions for protecting these items. Will this item be handled as a change order once the exact number of items to be protected are identified?

USFS Response – Protection of trees and rock features will be by avoidance. There will be no change orders for this reason.

RFI #7 – Per drawing G-22, detail 1, trash enclosure the dumpster must be a 4 yard pitch top front loader with bear-resistant apt metal lid (SLT). Per the dumpster provider, the pitch top front is not available with the bear-resistant metal lid. Is non pitch front dumpster acceptable (per the dumpster provider they were provided to Yellowstone National Park).

USFS Response – The FS spoke to the dumpster provider specified on the plans and specifications (Hana Carrasco at McLaughlin Waste Equipment, Inc.) and per the dumpster provider the pitch top front loader is available with the bear-resistant metal lid. Please let us know if more information is needed.
