SEE BELOW FOR QUESTIONS AND GOVERNMENT RESPONSES.

Question: What method of measuring the road does the Government anticipate the Contractor using to achieve the 1/100 mileage accuracy? Is it a method that would require walking the length of the entire road or from the last mile post (if present) to get distance, such as a measuring wheel?

Government Response: The Government anticipates the use of a distance measuring device for vehicles.

However, determination of the exact method would be the responsibility of the Contractor.

Question: Would the Government consider instead using GIS data collection methods that can accurately locate the signs, and then digitally measure the distance along the road?

Government Response: GIS apps like Field Maps can also collect the required sign data and link photos.

Government expects the use of GPS capable devices because part of the inventory includes providing GPS coordinates. The Forest Service would find it acceptable to use GIS applications to digitally measure the distance to obtain mile post for each sign.

Question: Is the 1992 sign data available as a GIS shapefile or database?

Government Response: No. Unfortunately, this inventory is only available in PDF form.

Question: Will the Government extend the submission date for quotes beyond September 8, 2022?

Government Response: No, the submission deadline for quotes remains September 8, 2022 at 3:00PM PST.
