1Q: Is the contractor to travel to each state with the number of times and perform services for testing?
1A: The contractor is required to maintain constant contact with the regulated community that spans from North Carolina in the East throughout the Southern Tier of the US to Oklahoma & New Mexico in the West. It is up to contractor to decide the most efficient manner for maintaining that contact and manage compliance with the peanut regulations. Attached are several charts outlining the geographic locations and types of facilities that make up the regulated community.
2Q: Whom is responsible testing cost, the government or contractor?
2A: The cost for testing is born solely by the regulated community (handlers, shellers & blanchers). The government does not pay for any testing.
3Q: Is the contractor to have an approval facility location or only travel to sites needed?
3A: Contractor can be at any location.
4Q: What is the previous contractor awarded value please?
4A: The previous contractor is Tabb & Associates. The option year IV pricing on the contract was $787,536.
5Q: What is the not to exceed amount for contract and previous contractor awarded value please?
5A: We do not disclose the budget for future contracts. The previous contract information is above.
6Q: Is licensing required by the contractor?
6A: No, the contractor is not required to be licensed by the government or required to hold any outside licenses (state or local).
NOTE: The contractor does not conduct any testing. All testing is conducted by USDA labs and/or USDA approved labs.
7Q: Does the contractor themselves have to do business in a particular location?
7A: There is no stipulation that a contractor has to be located in a particular location.
Having said that it is expected that the contractor should be able to deliver the level of service necessary to provide assurance that the regulated community is complying with the peanut regulations.
