Request for Information Replace Generator and Associated Repairs Dairy Forage Research Center (DFRC) Madison, Wi Solicitation 12505B23R0007

Q: Is there a required sound requirement (in dBA) for the generator? The spec calls out automatic dampers which usually come standard on a level 2 enclosure. I have attached our sound emissions data for the level 2 enclosure for your review.

A: USDA: The outdoor generator set enclosure shall provide sound attenuation such that measured noise level of the operating generator installation (generator / enclosure) ranges from 63 to 78 dB (A) when operating from no‐load to full‐load conditions, with measurement at 7 meters from generator set (i.e. Level 2 enclosure).

Q: There is a natural gas line very close to the proposed generator location; would the USDA accept a natural gas alternative to diesel?

A: USDA: Proposals from offerors shall be based on providing the diesel type generator as specified in the Statement of Work and associated documents.

Q: Is Generac considered an acceptable manufacturer?

A: USDA: Please reference page 26 32 13‐4, paragraph 26 32 13.2.1.A of Project Specifications; add “Generac” as an acceptable manufacturer. All acceptable manufacturers indicated in paragraph 2.1.A.

shall be subject to compliance with the requirements indicated in Specification Section 26 32 13.

Q: Clarification on contractor staging areas and contractor parking for the project.

A: USDA: Offeror’s proposal shall be based on having an approximate 25’ x 28’ asphalt exterior space available for contractor staging and storage of material (this space is located east side of the building, located near the loading dock – west of Stair 100E). Contractor shall provide all trailers / containers and provisions to provide secure, weather protected storage of their materials, equipment, etc. Interior storage space will be limited to Electrical Room 151 and 151A, where project activities are occurring.

Offerors shall coordinate with University of Wisconsin Transportation Services and shall include all parking charges / fees needed for the project in their proposals.
