12505B23Q0257 – Replacement of Bamboo Flooring, Madison, WI Ques ons and Answers UPDATED 8/16/23
1. What is the flooring being installed on? (What is the subfloor concrete or wood)
Response: The subfloor is concrete.
2. Is the present flooring glued in place? (Trying to determine me to rip up old flooring)
Response: The present floor is glued, and most of our issues with the current floor is the adhesive not holding.
3. Is there a specific color of finish for the new flooring?
Response: We would like to have a similar color to what we have, and I believe the current color is a compromise between Natural and Mocha.
4. Can you take measurements and post pictures?
Response: Reference a achments with Breakroom Dimensions and Pictures are as follows:
Picture 1: Foyer Entrance
Picture 2: Library Entrance
Picture 3: Breakroom sink
Picture 4: Breakroom near Courtyard
Picture 5: Breakroom 2A
Picture 6: Breakroom 2B
5) What kind of material is required to replace the current bamboo floor?
Response: We are replacing the bamboo flooring with bamboo. The current flooring is obsolete, so we will have to use a different brand, but we are hoping for a similar color. In the “Cali” brand flooring, the colors we would choose are Mocha #7014006500 and Natural #7014007100 (or equal). Additionally, this project will require proper adhesive, baseboards/wall base, and flashing (exit door to courtyard) if the flashing or baseboards are damaged.
6) For submissions to this solicitation, will you be requiring offers to submit using SF-1442 or other form? Will you accept letterhead with information outlined in FAR 52.212-1(b) ?
Response: Offerors shall submit their proposal on company letterhead and including all required information that is listed within the solicitation.
7) Will the breakroom be available for flooring acclimation (approx 5-7 days) prior to installation date?Otherwise will there be a location for flooring to acclimate in the conditioned building?
Response: We will provide an area to store the material during the acclimation period. This area may not be the breakroom directly, but we will make that determination when the material arrives.
8) Are there any VOC requirements for adhesive ? Would manufacturer recommended adhesive be acceptable?
Response: Manufacturer adhesive should be acceptable. The current flooring survived for 15 years until the adhesive released after the humidity increased in the building when our air handler unit was disabled. We are hoping to not encounter this situation again. We understand that we may have to accommodate some of our staff if the odor of the adhesive is strong, but we would prefer a long-lasting bond between the floor and the adhesive.
9) Will there be any bonding requirements for this solicitation? Bid, payment/performance bond?
Response: No
