Maintenance Questions dated 2/7/2023

Regarding the SOW

• What certifications/licenses are required to be submitted with our quote?

All technicians need to be certified diesel mechanics.

• 2.0 Background: Only OEM Caterpillar parts from the Caterpillar distribution system may be used on the Caterpillar Generators. The contractor needs to have 10 years’ experience servicing Caterpillar generators and operating generators via an ISO control system.

- Are their similar requirements to the Cummins units? And if so, please state them.

None for Cummins.

• Regarding (5) CAT generators’ roof-mounted radiators:

- What is the capacity of the remote radiators on the roof for these units?

47.6 gallons.

- How is the current installed system filled?

I have not watched Caterpillar do it. Probably pumped in from below. We can lift equipment on to the roof of the generator building using the telehandler if needed.

• Regarding load bank of (5) CAT units:

- A step-down transformer is required since the units are medium voltage. Will this be furnished by the government or by the contractor?

We usually use campus electrical load.

• Regarding the use of OEM suppliers:

- Is there an option to quote only the Cummins or CAT?

No.

- During the load bank test, are we able to use existing load then supplement with external equipment?

Yes.

- Is the Scope of Work able to be negotiated? This is a CAT scope, and we think it does not apply to the Cummins units.

No.

• Please confirm if thermal images are required on the ATS reports or is documentation of the readings sufficient.

Documentation is sufficient.

• Are there isolation breakers at the switchgear for the BLDG 153 CAT generators?

Not sure what they are asking. The breakers can be locked out or racked out.

• Are there any known pre-existing conditions that will require immediate attention if we are the successful offeror?

No.

• Should the cost of labor for corrective action discovered during PM be included in the proposal?

No.

• Should the costs of materials and/or equipment for corrective action discovered during PM be included in the proposal?

• Should the cost for labor for corrective actions identified during an emergency response be included in the proposal?

No.

• Should the cost for materials and/or equipment for corrective actions identified during an emergency response be included in the proposal?

No.

• Will there be a threshold to cap the expenditure by the successful offeror for work performed outside of the PM requirements?
