About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for the Mark Twain National Forest Salem Warehouse Siding and Window Replacement project (Solicitation 12445526Q0037). The Q&A clarifies key scope requirements for the replacement work, which includes: removal and replacement of all existing vinyl and metal siding with premium vinyl siding, replacement of existing interior trim with new painted trim (not repainting existing trim), and removal and replacement of the existing building wrap. The document addresses three optional bid items: Optional Bid Item 2 covers soffit and fascia replacement and installation around the entire building; Optional Bid Item 3 includes installation of new seamless gutters, downspouts with extensions, and gutter guards on the building's backside, with potential future work to replace the front gutter and downspouts. The Q&A also notes that upper attic windows are smaller than ground-level windows, and that full removal and replacement of windows and trim is required.
This Q&A document is supplemental to the RFQ issued by the Department of Agriculture Forest Service for a Total Small Business Set-Aside, with a small business size standard of $45 million under NAICS code 237990. The solicitation included a planned site visit scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 10:30 AM CST at 1301 S Main St., Salem, MO 65560. Questions were due by March 13, 2025, at 2 PM Central Time and should be submitted to cassandra.potts@usda.gov with the solicitation name and number in the subject line.

Q&A: Mark Twain NF Salem Siding and Windows
1. Q: Should we quote replacing all existing siding with the premium vinyl to eliminate the metal siding panels?
A: Yes, the vinyl quote would eliminate the existing vinyl and metal siding that is currently there. Touch up metal flashing work around doors and windows and the swinging and up/down garage doors may be needed along with the vinyl for a completed finished product
2. Q: On the interior trim, they are wanting existing trim removed and new trim installed, NOT repainting and reusing the existing, correct?
A: Yes, new painted trim
