About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document dated 13 March 2026 for the GAOA Monocle Lake Recreation Access contract opportunity. The document addresses six contractor inquiries regarding pavement construction specifications and material requirements.

The Q&A clarifies that HMA Base Crushing & Shaping involves placing 4 inches of MDOT standard 22A road gravel over the existing asphalt surface, which will then be pulverized, fine-graded, and compacted. The government confirms that 2 inches of asphalt is adequate for the project given the compacted pulverized asphalt and 22A gravel base, combined with expected vehicle traffic levels. Additional clarifications define technical specifications: Aggregate Base 22A as standard MDOT 22A road gravel, Traffic Control as road closed and men working signs per MUTCD requirements, HMA 4EL as the asphalt grade, and Shld CI II as standard stone for road shoulders. Density testing responsibilities are referenced in Amendment 1, Attachment 12. The document does not specify contract award dates, pricing terms, response deadlines, or set-asides.
