12444323Q0039 Questions and Answers Pre-Bid Conference 04/05/2023
1. The Statement of Work, Section 3 Item 2.c Testing says that a soil sample of the surrounding soil must be collected to verify hazardous characteristics and determine proper disposal. This would be considered a landfill characterization sample.
But in a scenario where no elevated field screening levels are encountered, no petroleum odor, and no visible staining is observed, we would collect our confirmatory samples and backfill the excavation. If confirmatory soil samples are “clean” then we would submit the closure report and no soil would be sent to the landfill. Therefore the landfill characterization sample would not be needed.
The question is, if no impacts are encountered should we still submit the landfill characterization sample as an extra data point or hold off?
Answer: Yes, the landfill characterization sample will be required as an extra data point.
