About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for Amendment 0001 to federal contract 1240LU26Q0095, addressing clarifications for a bridge renovation project.
The amendment clarifies three key aspects of the contract scope. First, the contractor is responsible for replacing all hardware components including nuts, bolts, fasteners, nails, U-bolts, and malleable washers, while leaving specially fabricated pieces in place and excluding plate washers. Second, regarding safety measures during high-water conditions on the Selway River, the document addresses clearance concerns for a debris/safety net beneath the bridge and passage of rafters. While drawings indicate approximately 8 feet of elevation difference at the channel center, exact clearance measurements have not been taken, and water elevation varies annually. The contractor must adjust net elevation to ensure safe passage of floaters, with peak runoff occurring historically from mid-May to mid-June. Third, old wood materials removed from the bridge will be hauled to and stacked at Running Creek Ranch near the Government Furnished wood materials location, or at alternative locations agreed upon by Running Creek Ranch, the contractor, and the Contracting Officer.

1. Are we looking at replacing all the hardware (nuts, bolts, fasteners, and nails), while leaving the specially fabricated pieces in place? Yes, all hardware (nuts, bolts, fasteners, and nails) are being replaced and provided by the contractor, including the U-Bolts and malleable washers. This does not include the plate washers.
2. When we place our net beneath the bridge for debris/ safety, seeing that it is high water time of year, any idea how much clearance will be under the bridge to the water? Adeeb brought up that the rafts that come down with folks rafting may be an issue? The exact clearance from the bottom of the bridge structure to the normal high-water elevation has not been measured. The drawings show an elevation difference of approximately 8 feet at the center of the channel. This exact distance is difficult to determine without field measurements. Also, the high water elevation is not consistent year to year, and the bridge bottom chord elevation is on an arch and is not level. The contractor will have to adjust the net elevation to allow safe passage of floaters beneath the bridge. Peak runoff on the Selway River is historically mid-May to mid-June.
3. When we pull the old wood off the bridge, Will we be taking it back over to the ranch?
Or a staging area closer to the bridge? The old wood materials that are removed from the bridge will be hauled to and stacked at Running Creek Ranch near the location of the Government Furnished wood materials or at other locations agreed to by Running Creek Ranch, the contractor, and the CO.
