About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for solicitation 1240LU26Q0065, a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by the Department of Agriculture Forest Service for the Salmon River Seed Orchard Well Drilling project on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. The document addresses a single inquiry regarding alternative drilling methods and well construction approaches. A prospective contractor asked whether the government would permit an alternative drilling process using an 8-inch well with steel casing and a 4-inch PVC liner instead of the 10-inch well specified in the plans, if such an alternative could meet the required water production standard of 10 gallons per minute at a lower installation cost. The government's response categorically rejected this proposal, stating that no alternate methods will be accepted and that all work must comply with the plans and specifications provided by the Forest Service.
