Question Answers dated 04/09/2026

1. Has a geotech been completed for this project? If so, can it be provided for bidding purposes?

No geotechnical borings or other investigations were done. Soil type mapping was consulted to avoid landslide areas.

2. The specs call out Blasting as an excavation method. Is any blasting anticipated on this project? If so, how is it measured and paid?

No blasting is anticipated, there is rock, but it is anticipated that it can be mechanically removed. All excavations are "unclassified" meaning that all excavation quantity will be paid at the bid price regardless of material type.

3. On the bid schedule there are notes regarding the volumes for each section, but totaling the net cut/fill quantities in each section there is quite a bit of difference. Are these notes not updated?

The bid schedule is correct. The totals listed on each sheet includes the running total for that section, including the quantity from the previous sheets. Section 1 total quantity is 7950 CY. The Cumulative total listed on Sheet 7 is the total quantity for Section 1, it includes all the quantity for sheets 3-7. (the quantity listed on sheet 6 is a running total that includes the quantities from sheets 3-6, quantity on sheet 5 includes the quantities from sheets 3-5, etc)

4. The CY quantity of item 20401-0000 states a value which is seemingly close to the anticipated amount of excess material for the job. Is this the expected value to be in excess for the project? Is all excess material, besides suitable base course, intended to be hauled offsite or is a stockpile area available?

It is anticipated that the project will incorporate suitable excavation material as embankment, the excess shall be placed (wasted) in approved areas in the project area. It is anticipated that the majority of the excess may be placed on nearby fill slopes to reduce fill slope angle or create turnout areas.
