About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for solicitation 1240LT26Q0163, DNF Duck Creek Roof Repairs, issued by the Forest Service. The document addresses contractor inquiries regarding the scope and requirements for repairing damage to a building caused by a fallen tree.
The scope of work includes repairing the gable end and roof system damaged by tree impact, with flexibility to repair truss members as needed and have them stamped by an engineer. The existing roof is a PAC-CLAD Redi-Roof Standing Seam system with 24-gauge steel, 18" rib spacing, 1-9/16" seam height, and PAC-Clad Kynar 500 Green finish; contractors must verify dimensions and manufacturer specifications prior to purchasing materials. Interior repair work is included in the scope, covering water-damaged materials including drywall, insulation, and other affected materials to prevent mold. The Forest Service does not have a structural engineer on staff and will not provide one for approvals; contractors must hire their own engineer for recommendations and stamping of repairs. The building is empty with no work hour restrictions, though contractors should be mindful of noise during early and late hours due to employees in nearby buildings. The structure was built in 2000 with no environmental or hazardous materials present. The original truss design is not available, and the contractor must provide written recommendations regarding structural damage for Forest Service review and approval.
