About this file
This document is a project narrative and photographic documentation for the Lone Cone Chinking Project focused on a log cabin structure requiring chinking restoration work.
The cabin is a log structure measuring 43 feet long on the west side, 31 feet wide at the north end, 24 feet wide at the south end, and 7 feet wide at an eastern "L" extension near the back door. The building averages approximately 10 horizontal logs in height. The project involves chinking work on the exterior log walls, which appear to show significant deterioration with gaps between logs and missing or degraded chinking material visible throughout multiple wall sections. The photographic documentation depicts existing conditions including exposed gaps at log joints, areas where original chinking has failed or separated from the logs, and the general state of weathering and deterioration affecting the structure. The images show both close-up details of individual log joints and wider views of affected wall sections, as well as various elevations and perspectives of the cabin exterior to provide comprehensive assessment of the chinking repair requirements.
