Solicitation: 1240LT26Q0021 / Amendment: 0003 Dubois Housing Roof Replacement

Question:

• The Schedule of Items appears to include replacement quantities only for the metal roofing (9,088 SF). Can the Government please confirm whether the demolished cedar and asphalt shingle roofing areas (totaling 12,237 SF) are also intended to be replaced with new metal roofing?

Answer:

• The total area of all roofs is 9088 SF. The demolished cedar and asphalt shingles refer to multiple layers of roofing under the metal roofing.

Question:

• Additionally, since a bid bond is required, can the Government please confirm the magnitude of construction for this project?

Answer:

• A bid bond will apply to quotations above $150k. FAR 36.204, “Disclosure of the magnitude of construction projects”, has been removed from the FAR.

Question:

• The specifications indicate flat profile 1-3/4” standing seam panels (10 inches wide). Would it be acceptable to use a 16-inch panel with a 1-inch standing seam, or alternatively a Tuff Rib panel (3 feet wide with 1-inch ribs), which matches the existing configuration?

Answer:

• No.

Question:

• The buildings are enclosed with chain link fencing, and no personnel were present on site. Could you please advise on the proper procedure for access—should we coordinate permission in advance or proceed if access is open?

Answer:

• Permission must be coordinated in advance to access the buildings.

Question:

• The scope mentions removal and replacement of soffit with vented aluminum soffit—is this requirement applicable to all five buildings?

Answer:

• Yes.

Question:

• Do you require all fascia to be replaced as part of this project?

Answer:

• Yes.

Question:

Solicitation: 1240LT26Q0021 / Amendment: 0003 Dubois Housing Roof Replacement

• Called out is a 40mil self-adhered underlayment. Is that the minimum requirement? We plan to use Titanium PSU30 which is 45-mil self-adhered. Or would you prefer a Grace High Temp to achieve the exact 40mil?

Answer:

• Grace High Temp is preferred.

Question:

• Are new ladder racks expected to be installed where existing? Or are we to re-install the existing ladder racks in the same place on the new roof?

Answer:

• No. Ladder racks are not necessary.

Question:

• Are we able to remove the fencing around the properties for easier access to dumpsters and equipment around the building?

Answer:

• Fencing may be removed, but must be replaced in same condition.

Question:

• Is the contractor responsible for grass repairs if damaged?

Answer:

• Yes. Property must be left in the same condition it was found.

Question:

• Is the contractor responsible for removing and reinstalling satellite dishes, antennae's, or any other equipment mounted to roofs/fascia?

Answer:

• No. All equipment mounted to the roofs/fascia will be removed by the Forest Service prior to construction.

Question:

• Can the FS please confirm the total layers of shingles beneath existing steel?

Some structures appears to be 2-3 layers under existing steel, where the plans state only 1 layer. If more layers are identified during demo, would there be a change order for additional labor and debris removal required?

Answer:

• Contract accounts for all layers of roofing. See the drawings. Each lists the layers of roofing and the schedule of items accounts for the removal of all layers.

Question:

• For House #1: Is the contractor expected to frame in a cricket behind the chimney?

Answer:

• No. Roof as existing.
