About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for the Island Park Housing Reroofing project, specifically Addendum 003. The Q&A addresses a contractor's inquiry about potential asbestos in existing roofing materials. The response indicates that Building 1107 has wood shakes under existing metal roofing, and while no shingles are believed to be present on other buildings, any discovered asbestos-containing materials will be handled as a change condition during the project. This Q&A is part of the broader solicitation (No. 1240LT25R0016) issued by the Department of Agriculture Forest Service for reroofing 10 housing units at the Island Park Administrative Site.

Island Park Housing Reroofing Q&A’s - 003
Q. Looking at the age of the dwellings on addendum 002, have the existing shingles been tested for asbestos? If not, will USDA have a tech on site to test and monitor demolition? If found to be hazardous, will work be a change order to mitigate the materials?
A. Building 1107 appears to have wood shakes under the existing metal roofing. We don’t believe there are shingles under any of the other buildings. If asbestos containing materials are encountered, it will be handled as a change condition.
