Stanley Lake and Alturas Lake Road Asphalt Maintenance Project Pre-Bid Questions and Answers

Attendees:

Kevin Duchow, USFS COR John Kloepfer, Kloepfer Concrete and Paving

Questions and Answers:

1. Where is a good stockpile location at Stanley Lake for chips?

a. There is an old gravel pit about halfway along the Stanley Lake Road on the west side of the road. There is a large flat area that can be flagged off to be used for a stockpile.

2. Can the contractor propose to scrub coat, micro surface, or use another method for the asphalt repair and patching on Stanley Lake Road?

a. The Forest Service is willing to consider alternative methods of achieving the same goal. Preference would be given to cut, over excavation, compaction and patching.

3. For Stanley Lake patching, the quantities did not include a patch, roughly 170’x24’x3inches.

a. The quantity should be changed from 15 Tons, to 70 Tons.

4. The Table with the spread rates for the chips does not go all the way to 100 lb/sy?

a. Replace table 407.09-1 in the specifications with this attached table.
