About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a furnace replacement project for the USDA Forest Service located at 421 Black Avenue in Big Piney, Wyoming. The project involves decommissioning an existing non-functional Lennox GS6-145M natural gas furnace and installing a new gas-fired condensing furnace in a confined crawl space beneath a single-story residential facility. The replacement furnace must be a Coleman 79ES100C20SMPS1 Furnace (96% efficient with ECM drive motor) or an approved equivalent, utilizing LPG gas and meeting specific technical requirements including a steel cabinet, centrifugal fan, aluminized and stainless steel heat exchangers, and comprehensive safety controls.
The project has a completion deadline of April 15, 2026, with travel costs included in the vendor's mobilization proposal. The technical specifications detail extensive requirements for the furnace, including specific manufacturer options (Coleman, Carrier, Daikin, Lennox, Trane), installation guidelines, connection methods, and quality control testing. The SOW includes detailed provisions for vent connections, piping, electrical connections, and mandatory field inspections to ensure proper installation and functionality. Disposable air filters with ASHRAE 52.2 MERV rating of 8 or higher are also specified as part of the project requirements.

2.0 Background
421 Black Avenue is a single story, Forest Service owned residential facility. The facility is approximately 1,560 square feet and was serviced by a Lennox Gas Heating Equipment System, Model No. GS6-145M. The existing furnace is located in a confined crawl space beneath the residence, which is accessible through a removable hatch cover in the backyard of the residence. See photos in Attachment A.
Within the crawl space, there is existing plumbing that would need to be navigated through carefully to fit a new furnace. Clearances are between joists and top of pipes are approximately 24” – 30” in height.
Dimensions of ductwork into furnace are approximately 23” x 23”.
Contractor shall verify all dimensions prior to installation.
Contractor Requirements
