The solicitation requires replacement of existing cedar siding on identified buildings with new cedar and corrugated metal panel siding. It clarifies that the existing roof is concrete tile, all new siding and trim must be cedar, and the existing metal fascia will remain. Amendment #1
1. Roof traffic - Plans and pics show existing roof to be cedar shakes while the solicitation
(C.4) says it is concrete tile. Please clarify. The pictures are concrete tile. The existing roof is concrete tile. The original drawings of the building were of the shakes but were replaced in 2011.
2. Specification 074646 - 2.1.C includes "hardie shingle siding" in the basis of design, while
073129 - 2.1.A.1 calls for "cedar valley panels" as the basis of design. Documents elseward call out for new cedar shingles to replace existing. Please clarify intent of the product to be used for the siding and the trim, and alternates allowed (if any). As stated in Section C, fiber cement soffit is to be installed on the soffits of the Paraloft Tower and
Administrative Building. All siding and trim on all buildings is to be cedar.
3. Will the existing metal fascia (where conditions apply) remain or will it be replaced? Will the wood fascia (where conditions apply) need to be wrapped with metal fascia? The existing metal fascia will remain and the wood fascia will remain. Fascia will not be replaced as part of this project.
4. Scope includes "repair/replace damaged sheathing" (C.1 of the solicitation) what are the procedures for this, as we will not know the full extent (if any exist at all)? The contractor would be responsible for up to 256sf of sheathing replacement if any exist at all. If more square footage of sheathing needs replaced then a differing site condition would occur and the contractor would be able to submit a modification request for the additional sheathing and associated work.
5. What are the management requirements on site during the construction phase of the project?
For example: Does the General Contractor need a Project Manager level on site at all times?
Can the General Contractor have a Superintendent level employee on site at all times?
Can the siding subcontractor have a Superintendent level employee on site at all times to satisfy management criteria?
FAR 52.236-6 says the following: “In the absence of the Contractor, there shall be an authorized representative of the Contractor on the project at all times when work is in progress. The
Contractor shall submit the Designation of Contractor Representative form designating a representative along with the extent of the representative'(s) authority prior to work starting for the project.”
