About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for Solicitation 1240LP26Q0021, JeffCo Airbase Crack Seal, Amendment 1. The document addresses ten clarifying questions submitted by potential vendors regarding the scope of work for a pavement maintenance and marking project at a Jefferson County airbase facility.
The work involves crack sealing on a helicopter ramp that is occasionally used for fixed-wing aircraft parking, with asphalt cracks ranging from various widths up to 3 inches maximum, though no full-depth repairs are required. The project includes refueling activities on the ramp area. Additionally, the contract requires vehicle parking lot restriping with one or two coats at vendor discretion, with glass beading for center lines and safety circles noted as desirable but not required. Four safety circles must be marked on the pads with specific inner-to-inner diameters: three eastern pads at 75 feet diameter and one western pad at 55 feet diameter. Alpha/numeric designators for pad identification must fit within a total marking area of 10 feet by 10 feet per designation. Forest personnel will identify center points and orientation of the safety circles and may reduce dimensions as needed based on site conditions.

Questions and Answers:
1. How wide are the average cracks in the asphalt?
There is a wide variety in the severity up to 3" in places. Most cracking is not this severe however.
2. How wide are the widest cracks?
3"
3. Will any cracked areas require full depth repair?
No
4. Is this ramp/taxiway exclusively for helicopter use?
The ramp is used primarily for helicopters but could be used to park fixed wing aircraft at times. We no longer load large airtankers at the facility.
5. Does refueling happen on this ramp area?
Yes
6. Will one coat or two coats of striping be required for the vehicle parking lot restriping?
Not specified in SOW- vendor discretion.
7. Will the center lines be glass beaded?
Not required, but desirable
8. Will the safety circles be glass beaded?
Not required, but desirable
9. Is the 110' measurement the inner or outer diameter, or center of line to center of line?
Inner to Inner. Per the SOW "forest personnel will identify Center points and orientation of the 4 safety circles and may reduce dimensions, if needed."
The site map provides a more accurate picture of the dimensions for the 4 pads. The 3 eastern most pads will be 75' diameter. The western most pad will be 55' diameter.
10. For the alpha/numeric designators, is 10'x10' the total area of the marking or each letter/number is 10'x10'?
10'x10' refers to total area of markings
