Questions and Answers- 1240LP24Q0042- Railroad Caboose Removal If you could share more information behind the inability to haul the caboose away intact, because hauling it away intact seems like a potentially cost-effective solution.
The height of the caboose it will require a specialized trailer that will be difficult to maneuver around the winding curves of the roads that access the site. These roads are very difficult to navigate with large scale equipment necessary to remove the caboose.
It is encourage that anyone interested in this project to please attend the pre-bid conference on June 20.
Could you please clarify whether the stated height of 14.7 feet includes the tires?
It does not include the tires.
Since the contractor will be responsible for disposing of the caboose scrap metal, will they take ownership of the caboose itself from the Government?
Once the caboose is dismantled/deconstructed it is the responsibility of the contractor to dispose of the scrap metal. By taking responsibility of the scrap metal, contractor is taking ownership.
I’m assuming that any LBP or ACM was burned out when the caboose was burnt/set on fire?
The lead based paint I do not know what type of paint was used when the caboose was last painted. The caboose was completely burned and there is only debris and ash on the inside.
Has anything else changed from when this was bid before?
The Statement of Work/ Description is more specific on the requirements of the removal of the caboose.
Will it be possible to see the sign in sheet if you are unable to attend the pre-bid walk-through?
The attendance roster will be posted in the questions and answers page after the meeting.
Will you be able to get the longitude & latitude to look on Google Earth or similar service.
