1. Delegated Design: An HVAC System Assessment, Load Testing, System Sizing with Life Cycle Costing Assess existing system performance: equipment age, fuel type, ductwork condition, load capacity, and integration with building systems.
Determine new HVAC system capacities, zoning, equipment, and components for optimal efficiency and performance. Consider building envelope quality, orientation, and total square footage. Consider insulation, windows, infiltration, and internal gains.
Will new system have correct static pressure and room airflow with existing ducts or will extensive duct modifications be necessary.
Due to climate zone consider possible alternates for achieving optimal efficiency and system performance. To include: Certified cold-climate heat pumps, cold-climate heat pumps with electric resistance backup, or possibly duel fuel system heat pumps with a furnace.
HVAC Assessment Report shall include load calculations, duct calculations, airflow design & verification, ventilation, exhaust requirements, and address safety stand-ards. Load calculation will ensure replacement system meets or exceeds the build-ing’s heating or cooling load. Select equipment meeting efficiency standards and minimum AFUE, SEER and EER thresholds for cold climate installation. Provided under section 2.0 Applicable Codes and Standards, above.
Provide life cycle costing for justification of replacement system. Include initial cost, operating cost, and payback period for HVAC replacement system. Selected system should provide the best value and life cycle cost.
