About this file
This document outlines the requirements for a federal contract to reconstruct the Ideal Cove Trail located on Mitkof Island in the Tongass National Forest in Alaska. The solicitation requests base bids to demolish approximately 0.8 miles of existing boardwalk and wood structures, salvage reusable lumber, and install new aggregate surfacing, boardwalk bridges, retaining logs, stonework, concrete and wood steps, and Type A and B boardwalks. Optional items include demolishing an existing footbridge and installing a new one, constructing a rest area, and adding two aggregate surface rest areas. The estimated price range for work is between $500,000 and $1 million and the period of performance is from January 2022 to November 2022, subject to availability of funds. The pre-bid conference is scheduled for November 30, 2021 and the trail provides access from Petersburg approximately 25 miles by road and 2 miles by trail.
