We cover the world’s leading growers
In the late 60s, Röhm, the world leader in acrylic technology, began developing a sheet product especially for the greenhouse industry.
By the 70s, the first large commercial greenhouses were being covered with this new, UV stable light transmitting insulated sheet, and by 1982, 20 million sq.ft. of acrylic double-skinned sheet had been incorporated into commercial greenhouses around the world.
In 1999, Röhm developed a polymer, which enabled the product to withstand impact from falling objects and job site mishaps. With this new capability, and backed by a hail warranty, the industry's highest performing glazing product will outlast the competitors in even the most extreme climates and challenging growing conditions.
Today, there are more than 75 million sq.ft. of DEGLAS acrylic sheets installed in commercial, retail, research and institutional greenhouses around the world.
A greenhouse built with DEGLAS acrylic glazing will pay for itself many times over. In addition to lower long-term costs than a glass greenhouse, you will see significant savings on your heating bill.
The world leader in acrylic technology
“Our first installation of DEGLAS acrylic was in 1979, when we were looking for a more energy efficient, but high light and long lasting replacement for glass. 500,000 square feet of additional acrylic later, and we're still pleased with our initial decision.”
— Pat Etzel, LEN BUSCH ROSES
Controlling and optimizing growing conditions are crucial to the success of every greenhouse operation.
The unique properties of our acrylic sheets deliver performance advantages that are far superior to other glazing products, providing both immediate and long-term crop performance and economic results that have become the hallmark of DEGLAS.
DEGLAS acrylic transmits up to 91% of the photosynthetic range (PAR). The exceptional clarity of DEGLAS provides the most natural growing conditions and promotes vigorous growth and vibrant bloom colour — characteristics that you and your customers will appreciate. Optimum growth response and shorter maturity time provide economic advantages that your accountant will appreciate. All DEGLAS High Impact acrylic sheets control UV light penetration, however, in applications where UV light transmission is desirable, DEGLAS ALLTOP® is one of the only glazing materials available in a formula that transmits the full spectrum of light including UV.
Thanks to our NO-DRIP® anti-condensate technology, DEGLAS acrylic glazing maintains optimal transparency even in bad weather. Unlike coatings on other glazing products that wear off, this patented procedure is an integral part of the manufacturing process, making the NO-DRIP feature a component of the DEGLAS sheet. This water-dispersing layer causes rain and condensation to flow off as a continuous self-cleaning film, resulting in the highest possible light transmission and eliminating uncontrolled dripping that can result in crop damage and disease.
Comparisons between a conventional double-covered greenhouse and a structure glazed with DEGLAS acrylic show that DEGLAS transmits 20% more light. This is a significant advantage, particularly in the winter months. In addition to high light transmission, the ribbed design of DEGLAS sheets diffuse the light over the crop canopy, eliminating harsh ‘hot spots’ associated with growing under glass. DEGLAS glazing creates a stable growing environment that is bathed in an abundant quantity and quality of light.
Superior performance advantages now and for years to come
“In this growing environment, our focus was to maintain high light and energy conservation.
With DEGLAS acrylic we can accomplish this along with a long life expectancy.”
— Otto Bulk, ROSA FLORA
For decades, DEGLAS has out-performed other glazing products in greenhouses around the world. DEGLAS High Impact acrylic is weather resistant, and is backed by a 10 year limited warranty. W e guarantee that DEGLAS will retain its light transmission and will not yellow over time, that it will keep its rigidity and strength and not become brittle. The rigid design of DEGLAS acrylic sheets provides high live load carrying capabilities, durability in extreme climates and resistance to hail.
In fact, because our proprietary polymer is 10 times more impact resistant than traditional acrylics, our hail warranty is not pro-rated.
And, unlike polycarbonates that are known to yellow over time, DEGLAS customers across the continent can attest to the exceptional clarity that our acrylic glazing maintains over decades of exposure.
W ith DEGLAS, not only is your investment protected, but you are assured of stable growing conditions year after year.
DEGLAS High Impact double-skinned acrylic sheets deliver insulative values equal to thermal insulated glass units. Tight, insulated houses result in energy savings now and for years to come. Building with DEGLAS means you'll save with a lower initial cost for your boiler, heat lines and energy curtains, and when compared with single glass glazing, you can expect to save up to 50% in annual heating costs.
Image above shows greenhouse glazed with DEGLAS acrylic roofing and polycarbonate walls. Both the acrylic and the polycarbonate glazing are of similar age. This image has not been altered in any way.
“We built this greenhouse in 1988 using DEGLAS acrylic on the roof and it’s as clear as the day we installed it. We chose acrylic for the high light levels and longevity.”
— Rick Brinks, BORDINES NURSERY
“After installing DEGLAS ALLTOP® sheet on our latest greenhouse, we’re seeing significant gains in terms of plant growth and energy conservation.”
— John Newland, NEWLAND FLOWERS

No Yellowing Polycarbonate and other plastic coverings yellow visibly over time. DEGLAS does not.
Even after 30 years, the absolute yellowness indices (YI) for DEGLAS are among the lowest possible for plastics at the present time. DEGLAS complies with the guaranteed values throughout the world as listed in the table below.
Eco-Friendly Glazing with DEGLAS High Impact Acrylic is healthy for the environment through reduced emissions and energy savings; environmentally sound manufacturing processes and certified facilities; the elimination of harmful chemicals; and the diversion of waste material from landfill sites. Our 30-guarantee against yellowing means less glazing going to landfill due to replacement. If you must replace DEGLAS, it can be recycled for use in making consumer goods. Choosing DEGLAS is good for the environment.
DEGLAS®
30 YEARS of LIGHT.
Are you seeing yellow? Then you’re not glazing with DEGLAS® High Impact Acrylic. Unlike DEGLAS, many plastic coverings yellow over time.
DEGLAS has been a proven winner for some of the world’s leading growers whose greenhouses are glazed with DEGLAS acrylic. Even after 30 years, these greenhouses have shown no visible yellowing and have retained high light transmission. A fact that we are now backing with a new industry leading 30-year no yellowing guarantee. DEGLAS does not yellow—count on it for decades. We guarantee it! More Light Longer
Because it will not yellow, DEGLAS High Impact Acrylic glazing maintains high light transmission throughout its long life. While polycarbonate users experience diminishing light transmission resulting in replacement in as little as 10 years, DEGLAS will retain up to 90% light transmission and clarity for 30 years. We guarantee it!
Naturally UV-Stable Yellowing is caused by the sun’s UV rays breaking down the glazing, but DEGLAS acrylic is 100% naturally UV-stable. Polycarbonate and other plastic covers need a UV barrier or coating to delay yellowing, but often need replacement because they have turned yellow.
UV barriers are often thin and are highly prone to failure. Only DEGLAS acrylic is inherently UV stable through and through, resulting in its abilty to retain high light transmission and clarity. DEGLAS acrylic will not require replacement in 30 years due to yellowness.
We guarantee it!
Upon combustion, other plastic coverings produce thick smoke and/or toxic gases that may be very harmful to people and to the environment. Deterioration from UV rays changes the burning characteristics in many such plastics. Thanks to DEGLAS Acrylic’s UV stability, its burning characteristics do not deteriorate over time. In the event of fire, DEGLAS burns cleaner with less smoke and no toxic or corrosive gases. We guarantee it!
Invest for Tomorrow Today
As leading growers all over the world can attest, DEGLAS is the superior choice for their business.
Don’t settle for anything else but DEGLAS Acrylic glazing.
DEGLAS’ 30-year guarantee also makes it the best value in glazing. An investment in DEGLAS will pay for itself for years to come. Engineered for long life, strength and durability, DEGLAS offers other great advantages over any other glazing on the market, including:
• Superior energy savings
• Proven hail protection
• Consistent growing conditions
• Patented condensate control
• Industry-leading hail warranty
• Highest light transmission

Breakage by hail within the meaning of this warranty is defined as at least 5 holes at different points in the surfaces of the double-skinned sheets, produced by 10 shots during the hail simulation test described below.
Hail simulation test:
Pellets of polyamide (PA 6.6) with a diameter of 20 mm (~ 0.8”) (weight approx. 4.5 g) are propelled against the weathered surface of the test specimen at a speed of 21 m/s (69 ft/s), corresponding to a kinetic energy of 1 joule, at room temperature.
Information:
According to an expert, a natural hailstone of 23 mm (~ 0.9”) in diameter has an average impact velocity of 17 m/s (~ 56 ft/s), corresponding to a kinetic energy of 1 joule. Furthermore, a hailstone study has established that the average frequency of hailstones of more than 10 mm in diameter is only 2.9%.

Water-resistant, energy-saving wall panels with outstanding insulation properties for glazing or curtain wall installations. Thermolite panels are designed to fit into standard 1-inch glazing pockets.
Thermolite panels have two corrugated plastic stabilizers sandwiching an insulating core of Isocyanurate (ISO) or Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam. The truss design of our exclusive corrugated stabilizer is one reason Thermolite is superior to conventional curtain wall panels.
Thermolite panels are a cost-effective solution for curtain walls and glazing applications because of their excellent insulating properties (R-7 for ISO and R-6.3 for EPS), fire resistance (ASTM E84 Class A), and they are virtually maintenance free for up to 20 years. Our standard 1-inch panel weighs less than 45 lbs compared to 1-inch hardboard-stabilized panels that weigh over 60 lbs each.
Thermolite Cross Section
Our exclusive fluted stabilizers are specifically designed to provide strength, stiffness and dent-resistance. Thermolite panels are water-resistant and non-absorbent so they will not rot, swell, corrode, or delaminate.
Standard Options
Thermolite comes in a variety of standard options that offer you a wide range of design and construction solutions. Our four-foot (48") width comes in 8', 10' and 12' lengths. Five-foot (60") widths are available in our seven standard premium colors by special order.
Thermolite panels are available in over 40 standard colors in either smooth or stucco-embossed finishes.
Insulating foam sandwiched between super-strong CPA stabilizers and prefinished aluminum sheets.
Thermolite panels fit standard 1" glazing pockets and provide excellent energy saving properties for curtain wall building exteriors.
Finished aluminum sheet with over 40 standard colors and two finishes.
Exclusive truss design is lightweight and stronger.
Insulating core of Isocyanurate (ISO) or Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam.
Random aluminum backer or painted both sides for
2-sided applications.
Corrugated polyallomer core is non-absorbent and water-resistant.

1.
Stock panels are shipped to the site and fabricated in easy-to-build temporary fixtures with standard carpentry tools. This job was done by roofers. Work moves along quickly with color and pattern developed in a large scale. Unlike many other products, these metal panels are warranted to keep the same color and finish for 20 years.
2.
Furring hat channels of 16 ga galvanized steel are laid out to the site-line specified. Foam-tape dry seal is applied over the channels. Panels are attached using Laminators’ System 6 clips and self-drilling sheet-metal screws.
Features:
! Field Fabricate to fit custom and unusual situations.
! Use Stock Panels ! No special Tools Needed ! Quick set-up for a few or for a lot.

Accurate layout of the furring channels is required for a good fit. Allow for½ ” caulk joints, and make sure well designed flashing and coping details are used. See typical details page 4.
4.
Accurated fixtures can be set up right at the job site to size and fabricate stock panels to fit the inevitable “job-site-conditions.” A 3” thick foam panel requires a circular saw with a large blade. This Makita saw has a 16” dia. blade and cuts through, or miters in one pass.
5.
Here a panel sizing fixture is set up using the galvanized hat channels to guide the installer’s circular saw. This ensures that the cuts are straight and true.
This fixture was built right on-site with available materials.
6.
Panels are flat and clean, reflecting the surroundings for an excellent fit into the neighborhood. Note how the horizontal joints, that were cut in the field, are straight and even with beautiful caulk lines.

7.
Caulking is accomplished with foam backer rod, taped joints, and standard color matched or contrasting color sealants. Taped joints give a clean, flush look. Slightly recessed caulk gives a reveal look.
8.
Panel adhesive is applied over the furring strips and along side the foam tape. The panel adhesive provides the main holding force keeping the panels in place. The foam tape is the primary weather seal, and the backer rod and caulk are the secondary water shed. Placement of these elements of the system are critical, but easy to do while erecting the panels.
9.
The inside of this warehouse is finished when panels are installed with white, bright, reflective painted aluminum.
10.
Panels can be detailed with brake-form, sheet-metal shapes, and with flush caulk joints. Color matched sheet metal is available from Laminators.

Typical details for the head situation with standard coping covers.
12.
The horizontal joint uses the same hat section for joint back up, foam tape and panel adhesive with mechanical stainless-steel Clip-and-Caulk® fasteners and self-drilling sheet-metal screws. Note the caulk may be recessed for a vertical vented drainage plane behind the sheet metal for PERSW (Pressure-equalized rain-screen wall features)
13.
The detail at the sill shows flashing metal over the sill and generously up the wall to conform to local conditions. Vents in the caulk at the sills must be left open for PERSW features. The vents can be to either the panel’s surface skin or to a cavity-wall, drainage-plane. Vents are shown blocked with shims which are pulled out after the caulk cures.
14.
The vertical joint uses 3” wide galvanized steel hat sections for joint back up. Note the foam tape and panel adhesive, backer rod and caulk, and a drainage plane behind the backer rod giving a triple-redundant, drained weather seal. Be sure to provide the drains at the sill by putting in vents (or gaps in the caulk, backer rod and foam tape) as shown above.

A cross-section of a typical joint shows the caulk, backer-rod, drainage plane, Clip-and-Caulk® and screw fastener, the foam tape primary weather seal, and the panel adhesive and building structure. Most of these items are available from Laminators, see the last page.
They have been specifically selected and tested to deliver weather-tight performance. Use the products listed to ensure reliable installations (no-substitutes.)
16.
The Clip-and-Caulk® fasteners are alternated and installed approx 2 ft oc. Additional clips may be used to pull the panels into the foam tape for a good seal.
17.
Brake-form metal is available from Laminators to matche the panel metal. Shapes can be formed to deal with special situations. The metal makes excellent color-matched flashings too.
18.
Impact resistant outside corners for odd angles can be made up of heavier metal and used in high traffic areas.
When damaged, they can be easily removed and replaced. Panel dings, dents, scratches and graffiti can be repaired with the Laminators Touch-Up Kits.
