- Do you have a product SDS that you can share with us? No. The freezers and dewars will contain laboratory biological material and samples that fall under Category B (UN 3373) or are considered exempt by DOT shipping regulations.
- Is there a specific temperature range that the product needs to be maintained at, or do they have to be stored at -80°C & -20°C respectively? Product will be moved within the various freezer equipment. Freezers will require electrical outlets during transportation. The power requirements are 120 volts for these pieces of equipment. Three of the -80 freezers are 35 amp. The remaining -80C freezers, -20 freezers and liquid nitrogen dewars are 20 amp.
- What is the cargo value of the product? Total value $139,000 for the equipment. (Replacement cost of liquid nitrogen dewar $32,000 each, Stirling -80 freezer $15,000 each, freezer contents are irreplaceable).
-Will any chemicals be transported? If so, please use the attached Chemical Inventory template to provide the chemical name, quantity, and volume of each. No. The freezers and dewars will contain biological material and samples that fall under Category B (UN 3373) or are considered exempt by DOT shipping regulations.
-What is the total value of all items to be transported, for valuation purposes? Total value $139,000 for the equipment. (Replacement cost of liquid nitrogen dewar $32,000 each, Stirling -80 freezer $15,000 each, freezer contents are irreplaceable).
-What is the preferred timeframe for the project to be completed? 3 months
-Does there need to be any info provided to potential bidders on the destination location? Are we only placing items on a dock? Will staff there unload any truck? Contractors will unload items to ground level at rear of Building 45. Forklift and pallet jack will be available, if needed.
-Is it possible if we can see photos of the equipment? See attached photos.

-Is the trailer already loaded and it just needs to be transported to GA or do you need a truck equipped with an empty trailer that will be loaded onsite and then transported? Contractors must load and unload the truck on site.
-I wanted to know the sizes of the freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks to see what type of equipment is needed for the transport. See above.
-Currently, there is no point of egress for the two large nitrogen tanks. They are 45” wide and all doorways/elevator access are 41”. A doorway will need to be deconstructed to allow for their removal. We made this known to the origin client and they advised that they should be able to do that. I’m not sure what that does to the timeline for this move, but the work would need to be completed prior to any contractor being able to remove those tanks.
Doorway will be deconstructed prior to contractor arrival.
-The client is requesting that the two large nitrogen dewars (large bottles) will need to be returned back to Michigan as they are rented items. This not listed in the scope and can add cost to the work, so I wanted to make sure that all parties involved understood that this step is being requested for this move. As these tanks are needed as a backup to the powered transport, I’m wondering if anyone from leadership can speak to the need for these items seeing as how the tanks themselves will be powered during transit.
This was an oversight on our part. We have updated the SOW to indicate that the two liquid nitrogen tanks will need to be returned to the origin.
-Still curious to what the expectations are for destination in regards to receiving. Are we leaving on a dock or placing the items? Will the new space accommodate the large items in question?
Contractors will unload items to ground level at rear of Building 45. Forklift and pallet jack will be available, if needed.

Do you know how heavy the items are and how many people may be required to move them. See above for weights. That is for the contractor to determine how many people may be required to move them.
1.) What are the dimensions of the freezers, dewars, and tanks? See above.
2.) How much does the equipment weigh, including contents? See above.
3.) Does this need to be moved on a particular type of vehicle? That is for the contractor to determine. Vehicle must have ability to power the equipment during transportation.
4.) Does all equipment need to be moved at same time? All equipment must be moved to Athens, GA together. The two LN2 tanks must be returned to East Lansing, MI within 30 days.
5.) At what frequency does temperature need to be checked? Temperatures should be monitored no less than every 4 hours.
6.) How many 120v outlets are needed during transport? Nine 120V outlets are needed. Three of the -80 freezers are 35 amp. The remaining -80C freezers, -20 freezers and liquid nitrogen dewars are 20 amp.
7.) What size truck will fit at facility? While it will be a tight fit, we have been able to have 53’ trailer back up to the loading dock in East Lansing, MI. The receiving end in Athens, GA can also accommodate this size truck.
8.) Will government load and unload equipment? No, Live load and unload. SOW specifies that contractor furnishes everything required to perform the job. Forklift and pallet jacks are available at both ends if needed.
9.) What are the trade-ins that are mentioned in the solicitation (a Quote on company letterhead detailing the item description, unit price per item, discounts for trade-ins, total price and valid for at least 60 days after receipt of quote;)? There are no trade-ins for this requirement.
Confirmation of the door frame removal requirement and its potential impact on the timeline. Doorway will be deconstructed prior to contractor arrival.
Confirmation of the Dewars (tanks) emptying and return plan, along with any specific instructions. Dewars will be full of items but we will try to deplete as much liquid nitrogen and fill once loaded. Estimated to be 2000 lbs when full. Liquid nitrogen tanks that were attached to the dewars will need to be returned to origin within 30 days of initial delivery.
