About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) to gather feedback and information from Third-Party Logistics (3PL) firms for the storage and distribution of foods purchased by USDA for its nutrition assistance programs, including the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP).
The RFI seeks proposals for a 3PL distribution model to support the storage and delivery of dry, refrigerated, and frozen food products to various locations across the United States and its territories. AMS is interested in ideas and suggestions that strengthen 3PL supply chain resilience and improve the customer experience. Key challenges include insufficient distribution system resilience, complex inventory management, variable delivery volumes, limited technology integration, and complicated shipments to remote areas. AMS requests respondents to propose a 3PL model, identify how it would support quality and on-time deliveries, address the documented program challenges, recommend contract incentives, data requirements, quality assurance/control and performance metrics, system integration requirements, and contingency plan considerations. Written responses to this RFI are due by November 4, 2024.
