About this file

This is a Requests for Information (RFI) document for federal solicitation 1232SA26Q1292 regarding the design and construction of a roof system for a container structure.

The Government seeks contractor proposals to design and construct a gable or hip-style roof over an existing container with a surrounding concrete moat. Contractors must provide design, rough drawings, shop drawings, and structural calculations stamped by a Hawaii-licensed engineer. The roof must be constructed using HPM 26-gauge corrugated metal roofing in Pattern 7 with exposed fasteners in Country Red color. Wood framing must be Grade 2 treated lumber, designed per contractor specifications. Roof attachment methods permitted include welding, drilling, and bolting to container corner castings, though fasteners cannot penetrate the inner lab wall. The roof pitch must be 3/12 gable style with water runoff directed away from sidewalks; gutters and downspouts are not allowed. Soffit closure must use 7/16" smart panel with continuous vinyl vent to prevent bird and pest entry. Critical restrictions include prohibition on penetrating the inner container lab roof and no contractor entry into the lab. Available utilities include water, electric, and restrooms. No prior site visit documentation, design drawings, wind speed specifications, or building code guidance were provided by the Government.
