About this file

This is a product specification document for McLanahan's Horizontal Manure Augers. These systems simplify manure transfer operations and reduce operator time by transporting manure hundreds of feet across barns to storage locations or processing facilities. The augers can be integrated with automatic scrapers, turned on and scraped into the system, or operated in series with other processing equipment. Units are housed in McLanahan-approved recessed concrete troughs protected by metal grate systems.

Horizontal Manure Augers are available in lengths exceeding 200 feet, with multiple augers installable in series to extend transfer distances further. Installation typically occurs at cross alleys in barn centers or ends to minimize wear, with the auger mounted in a concrete trough featuring no contact between flights and concrete. Multiple bearing options are available, including polyurethane, UHMW, graphite impregnated urethane, and hard iron. Heavy-duty shaft ends and replaceable end caps accommodate worn shafts, while multiple drive sealing arrangements protect the reducer. Hydraulically driven systems are also offered. Power requirements range from 1.5 to 20 horsepower depending on length, with units spanning 12 to 156+ feet. Optional safety features include grates and protective plates.
