About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a visitor profile study contract (10TCA-S3385) involving the Nevada Division's tourism research efforts. The contract is expected to run from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2029, focusing on developing a comprehensive visitor profile model that will include four distinct visitor segments: in-state leisure travelers, out-of-state leisure travelers, out-of-state travelers visiting family/friends, and out-of-state travelers attending business meetings or conferences. The project requires creating an on-demand online portal that allows flexible data analysis and filtering across various travel segments.

The Q&A document indicates that the deliverables will be based on geographic visitation rather than travel type, with an emphasis on providing a dynamic online tool that enables ad-hoc data extraction. The Division is open to blending methodologies with the awarded vendor and is interested in potential optional enhancements such as strategic insights for marketing campaigns. While strategic marketing recommendations are technically outside the project's scope, vendors are encouraged to list such potential additional services as optional costs when submitting their proposals. The document suggests the Division wants a comprehensive, flexible approach to visitor profile research that goes beyond traditional static reporting.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. In other Visitor profile studies, we were asked specifically to include four visitor segments.

a. In-state leisure travelers, defined as those living within the state of Nevada who travel at least 50 miles for leisure purposes with at least one overnight stay.

b. Out-of-state leisure travelers, defined as those living outside the state of Nevada who travel to the state for leisure purposes with at least one overnight stay.

c. Out-of-state travelers who travel to Nevada to visit family and friends with at least one overnight stay.

d. Out-of-state travelers who travel to Nevada to specifically attend a business meeting or convention/conference with at least one overnight stay.

Please confirm these four segments align with your expectations for the Visitor profile model you are creating or whether you currently use a different definition or visitor composition to determine your visitor profiles.

The segments specifically listed in the RFP as a deliverable for the visitor profiles are based on geographic visitation (i.e. which part of the state a respondent visited) as opposed to the type of travel that was done. With the request for access to an on-demand online portal, this would allow the Division to filter by various segments not specifically listed out in the scope of work, such as in-state travel, business travel, VFR, etc.

2. If you are currently working with an incumbent supplier, please confirm you are willing to share any existing methodology for the purpose of data trending—unless this is not considered important.

We will work with the awarded vendor to blend methodologies if we are able / if it is deemed appropriate

3. If you have previously conducted visitor profile studies, are there specific areas of the profiling research you would like to see enhanced? For example, would it be useful to add strategic insights of how to attract more tourists that could be used in marketing campaigns, or is that outside the scope of this research?

That is technically outside of the scope but would be something that would be of interest.

When submitting your proposal, please list your cost for the elements included in the scope of work and list any costs outside the scope of work separately as an optional cost.

4. In the RFP, you specify interest in an online tool to access data. Is it your expectation that this online platform would be dynamic, allowing you the flexibility to conduct your own data analysis, as opposed to a static tool that would present the data and allow you to view trends but not allow you the flexibility to conduct analysis?

Yes, that would be the goal of this tool. For example, if we received an ad-hoc request from the Nevada Commission on Tourism for agri-tourism related data, it would be beneficial to have access to pull data for this request.

5. Given that the data collection is ongoing, what is the expected duration of the contract?

The expected duration of the contract is from January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2029.
