About this file
This is a pre-bid information update attachment for the 42-Inch Downriver Transmission Main Loop project issued by the Great Lakes Water Authority in Michigan. The document provides prospective contractors with detailed information about key project locations and points of interest that require site visits prior to the pre-bid meeting. The project involves constructing water transmission mains to create a redundant water service loop for GLWA customers currently served by a single, non-looped transmission main. Critical work areas include a connection at the intersection of Pennsylvania and Inkster Roads requiring removal of existing 30-inch P.C.C.P. pipe; a jack and bore operation under the heavily traveled Eureka and Inkster Roads intersection with five lanes; construction of a City of Taylor meter pit at Inkster and Northline Roads requiring protection of an electric sign and plaza; a jack and bore operation under Goddard Road and Sexton Kilfoil Drain approximately 380 feet in length at 18 feet depth; coordination with commercial and industrial property owners along Inkster Road for isolation valve placement; demolition of existing water tanks at the Electric Avenue site in Lincoln Park in a residential setting; and rehabilitation of the City of Trenton TN-01 meter pit south of Sibley Road involving removal of an existing venturi meter and addition of bypass piping.
The document emphasizes that all prospective bidders are encouraged to conduct site visits at these locations prior to the pre-bid meeting. Significant maintenance of traffic impacts are anticipated at multiple locations, including the Pennsylvania and Inkster Roads connection, the Eureka and Inkster Roads jack and bore, the Northline Road jack and bore operation, the Goddard Road jack and bore operation, and the Inkster Road isolation valve installation requiring coordination with five identified commercial and industrial businesses. The demolition of water tanks at the Electric Avenue site in Lincoln Park will occur in a residential setting, necessitating coordination with local residents during construction activities.

Re: Downriver Transmission Main Loop Project – Points of Interest
All prospective bidders are encouraged to visit all of these locations prior to the pre bid meeting.
Connection at Intersection of Pennsylvania & Inkster Roads
The proposed connection to the existing 30” P.C.C.P. pipe will occur in the intersection of Inkster
& Pennsylvania Road. This connection will require the removal of an entire length of P.C.C.P.
pipe, this length of removal will have major impacts on the Maintenance of Traffic.
Jack & Bore under the Intersection of Eureka & Inkster Roads
The proposed jack & bore is located under a heavily traveled intersection; there are 5 lanes in all legs of the intersection. This operation will have impacts on the Maintenance of Traffic.
City of Taylor Meter Pit at Intersection of Inkster and Northline Roads
The City of Taylor Meter Pit is being constructed on City of Taylor Property but will require connections under both Inkster and Northline Roads. There is an electric sign and plaza that are owned by the City of Taylor that will need to be protected. Northline Road is a jack and bore installation, and the Inkster Road crossing is competed by open cut.
Jack & Bore under Goddard Road & Sexton Kilfoil Drain
The jack and bore operation at this location is approximately 380’ in length and will be 18’ in depth. This operation will have impacts on the Maintenance of Traffic.
Cross-over to east side of Inkster Road for Isolation Valve
The cross over to the east side of Inkster Road to locate a Isolation Valve in the greenbelt will require coordination between the Contractor and local business owners;
• 9501 Inkster Road - ORC 9501 LLC
• 9504 Inkster Road - Vinewood Metal Craft
• 9465 Inkster Road - DJH III, LLC
• 9465 Inkster Road - Elden Industries
• 9445 Inkster Road - Prestige Group LLC
There will be commercial/industrial that will need to have access maintained during business hours. This will have major impacts on the Maintenance of Traffic.
Electric Avenue Demolition Site
The demolition of the existing water tanks at the Electric Avenue Site in Lincoln Park will occur in a residential setting. The coordination with the local residents during construction will be key during this activity.
City of Trenton TN-01 Meter Pit – South of Sibley Road, east Roehrig Street
The existing meter pit is being rehabilitated by removing the existing venturi meter with a mag meter. Other work on this task includes the addition of bypass piping around the meter pit.
