Statement of Work

C-Canal and San Luis Canal Restoration

San Luis National Wildlife Refuge

1.0 BACKGROUND

A. The San Luis National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) manages over 26,800 acres of wetlands, riparian forests, native grasslands, and vernal pools that provide habitat for a variety of fish and wildlife species, including waterfowl, shorebirds, and other water birds.

B. The Refuge operates an extensive canal system to manage and deliver critical water supply to the wetlands basin. Many of the canals have excessive vegetation and silt restricting the water supply throughout the system. There are many failed water control structures within each canal.
