About this file

This document is a Salient Characteristics statement for procurement EM-6002, an Antenna Kit designed for the Special Operation Training Detachment (SOTD) at Fort Polk JRTC. SOTD seeks to procure one rugged antenna kit and one connector adapter kit to support spectrum analyzers already acquired by the unit. These systems will modernize the Observer-Controller/Trainer teams and provide realistic training capabilities for rotational units. The procurement addresses an operational need currently unsupported by existing resources.

The antenna kit must include four integrated components compatible with SIGLENT SSA 3021X Spectrum analyzers: a wideband omnidirectional antenna covering 20 MHz to 40 GHz, an omnidirectional long wire antenna for 5 kHz to 30 MHz coverage, a wideband hand-held log periodic antenna for direction-finding from 200 MHz to 26 GHz, and at least one handheld magnetic field antenna for direction-finding between 100 kHz to 300 MHz. All antennae must be portable with straightforward setup and teardown procedures, feature rugged construction suitable for austere and variable weather environments, include 50-ohm impedance, and have either attached cables or cables supplied with the kit. The omnidirectional wideband antenna must include a tripod for field deployment. Points of contact are julian.e.trianamartinez.mil@socom.mil and alan.farr.mil@socom.mil.

EM-6002 Antenna Kit, Rugged, 5kHz – 40GHz Salient Characteristics

1. Background: Special Operation Training Detachment (SOTD) out of Fort Polk JRTC. The unit currently requires procurement of a Rugged Antenna Kit and a connector adapter kit to be used in conjunction with their spectrum analyzers to modernize SOTD’s Observer- Controller/Trainer teams (OC/T) and facilitate realistic training for the Rotational Unit (RTU).

SOTD does not have the current means to support this operational need.

2. Item Needed and Quantity (as applicable):

Item Qty Antenna Kit, Rugged 1 Adapter Kit 1

3. Salient Characteristics:

The unit requires a set of antennae for the SIGLENT SSA 3021X Spectrum analyzers that the unit has already procured. The antenna set needs to include:

• A wideband omnidirectional antenna to view the entire electromagnetic spectrum from High Frequency to Extremely high frequency (20 MHz to 40 GHz)

• An omnidirectional long wire antenna that will allow for more accurate readings in the low frequency to High frequency ranges (5 kHz to 30 MHz)

• Wideband hand-held log periodic antenna to direction-find between 200 Mhz to 26 GHz

• At least one handheld magnetic field to direction-find in ranges between 100 KHz to 300 MHz.

All the above antennae need to be portable, easy to set up and tear down, (the omni-directional wideband antenna should have a tripod) and extremely durable in multiple weather conditions and austere environments. The antennae also need cables either attached or with the set and require an impedence of 50 ohms.
