Project Background The Silver Summit Services Building is a newly developed multiuse building in Summit County that will consolidate essential community services like the Summit County Sheriff's Office, County Justice Court and the County Attorney’s Office.

The SCPAAB seeks eight benches for the exterior of the building that commemorate the ideas of unity, community, justice, service, and law and order in Park City and

Summit County, Utah. This project honors law, order, and public service, creating a welcoming space for residents to connect and support one another. By offering a quiet place to pause and reflect, the benches carry a deliberate gravity of our collective dedication to fairness and community strength. Ultimately, this installation serves to foster a lasting environment for civic reflection, reinforcing our profound commitment to legal integrity and community solidarity.

Artwork submissions should engage the viewer well beyond the project's installation, and be crafted to withstand functional use, and the elements, and to provide a visual barrier between the road and the courtyard of the building. Project proposals must be for commemorative functional bench that can support seating.

The artwork will be free-standing and cannot impact the facade building (see site plans attached as Exhibit A). Artist(s) shall make no alterations, additions or improvements in or to the premises, other than the installation of the benches.

Artists or Artist teams shall provide details and engineering calculations mailto:jenny@pcscarts.org https://utah.bonfirehub.com/portal/?tab=openOpportunities https://utah.bonfirehub.com/portal/?tab=openOpportunities mailto:jenny@pcscarts.org demonstrating the manner of the artwork installation. Benches must be anchored to a concrete pad by the artist(s). Summit County will provide the concrete pads for the site.

Finished benches must be:

● (Two) 8 foot benches (to be placed near the new building) - Benches should not exceed 96” long x 18” seat height x 26” seat depth

● (Six) 5 foot benches (to be placed near existing building) - Benches should not exceed 60” long x 17” seat height x 20” seat depth

Artwork Opportunity

Goals of the Silver Summit Services Building Exterior Benches:

SCPAAB is seeking eight commemorative benches, two which will be 8 feet, and six which will be 5 feet, for the exterior of the Silver Summit Services Building that will:

● Reflect the goals described in the project background (above).

● Engage the viewer beyond the project’s installation.

● The artwork must be fabricated in durable, permanent, outdoor materials that are safe, easily maintained, and proven its viability in public installations. The artwork must be able to withstand deep snowfall, high winds, and variable temperatures.

● The intent of this project is to create artwork that is broadly welcoming, community centered and accessible to all visitors. The artwork must be suitable for public viewing by all ages and the public. Artwork that has profanity, nudity, political messaging or otherwise inappropriate content will not be considered. Artwork proposals should be appropriate for a diverse public audience and should not include political or partisan messaging, advocacy-related imagery, or symbols commonly associated with divisive social or political movements.
