About this file

The document is a business license requirements policy issued by the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, detailing regulations for businesses operating within the city's jurisdiction. The policy outlines specific licensing requirements for businesses with physical locations in Little Rock, businesses based in other Arkansas cities, and out-of-state businesses seeking to conduct work in the city.

The policy provides comprehensive guidelines for business licensing, including provisions for honoring licenses from other Arkansas cities, requirements for obtaining a Little Rock business license based on business location and type of work, and specific exemptions. Key details include the requirement for businesses to have a license matching their work classification, an exemption for non-profit organizations, and a specific provision that out-of-state businesses must obtain a license only after winning a City of Little Rock purchasing proposal. Businesses can contact the Treasury Division for more information, with Scott Massanelli listed as the Treasury Manager.

City of Little Rock Business Licenses Requirements

1. If a business has a physical location in Little Rock, they are required to have a business license for each location.

2. If a business is based in another city in Arkansas, that city has jurisdiction over the business.

If that city requires a business license, we will honor their license. If the city does not require a license such as Conway and they are coming into Little Rock to conduct business, they will be required to obtain a license from us unless they have already obtained one from another City in Arkansas in which case we will honor that license.

3. If the business is an out of state business which does not have a physical location anywhere in Arkansas, they will be required to obtain a license from us unless they have already obtained one from another City in Arkansas, in which case we will honor that license.

4. Keep in mind the licenses they provide must be for a classification comparable to the type of work they will be conducting in Little Rock.

5. An out of state business does not need to obtain a business license if they are just bidding on a Little Rock purchasing proposal. If the out of state company wins a bid from the City of Little Rock, then they are required to obtain a City of Little Rock business license for the duration of the engagement.

6. A Non-Profit Organization is exempt from having to obtain a business license.
