About this file

This document is a detailed Section 09 99 99 specification for aircraft and missile refurbishment at Offutt Air Force Base. The project involves relocating and thoroughly refurbishing (1) Trident II ICBM missile and (1) Minuteman I ICBM missile from B500 to B1000, with comprehensive restoration requirements. Key specifications include complete corrosion removal, surface preparation, priming, and repainting to museum-quality standards, using military-specification gloss paints and requiring careful environmental compliance, safety protocols, and hazardous waste management.

The contractor must perform limited disassembly, clean and treat external surfaces, apply corrosion prevention coatings, and repaint with color-matched high-gloss paint. Specific requirements include using HEPA sanders, avoiding water/sand blasting, providing detailed safety documentation, maintaining a quality control plan, and ensuring a one-year warranty against paint flaking, peeling, or cracking. The work must be conducted on-site with careful containment of potential hazardous materials, and will involve pre-installation meetings with the Base Historian and strict adherence to environmental and safety regulations.
