About this file

This document is a compilation of questions and answers related to Request for Qualifications (RFQ) 08DOA-S2294 for Nevada Workers Compensation Brokers, issued by the Nevada Department of Administration's Risk Management Division. The RFQ seeks proposals from insurance brokers to assist the Risk Management Division in marketing and structuring its Workers Compensation Insurance Program pursuant to NRS 331.184(3). The RFQ covers various aspects of the program, including safety/loss control, claims, actuarial services, budget forecasting, and brokerage services. The current Workers Compensation coverage is provided by AIG and has been in place since 2001. The State has considered approaching other potential markets in the past three years, including Safety National, Chubb, Genesis, Old Republic, Allied World Assurance Company, and Ascent Group Limited.

The current annual cost of services, commissions, and fees for the Workers Compensation program is not to exceed $1,000,000, and this amount does not include the cost for third-party services such as the Third Party Administrator (TPA) or Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). The State has not explored alternative Workers Compensation risk financing or coverage options in the past five years, and the current policy is set to expire on June 30, 2023. The incumbent broker is Willis Towers Watson (WTW), but the State is not inclined to disclose the current revenue received for placing the policy.
