About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details the fabrication of an antenna support structure for the FAA Logistics Center at the Monroe, OR Beacon Only site. The project involves removing an existing FPS primary antenna reflector and replacing it with a new stanchion structure, antenna support, and ladder safety system capable of supporting a six-foot beacon antenna array. The contractor is required to build the support structure according to Drawing 2036670, assemble custom fabricated components, paint the structure in accordance with Drawing 821490 (using an aliphatic isocyanate urethane enamel in international orange), and ship the completed structure to the FAA Logistics Center in Oklahoma City.
The project is scheduled to coincide with the regularly scheduled FPS pedestal and antenna maintenance (10-year cycle) and is estimated to take 18-20 weeks for delivery. The painting instructions specify using a specific urethane enamel coating applied per F-171 method for both metallic and non-metallic parts. The primary objective is to maintain the six-foot secondary beacon antenna at its original commissioned height while providing a safe structure for technicians to perform maintenance, with the structure being the only remaining primary antenna reflector in NAS inventory that will be preserved as a spare for potential future radar facility needs.

SOW - FAALC NAS BEACON ANTENNA July 3, 2025
STATEMENT OF WORK
QMO Antenna Support Structure Fabrication
1.0 Background
The Monroe, OR (QMO) Beacon Only site utilizes an FPS Primary radar sail to support the six-foot beacon antenna array since its transition to a beacon only site (BOS) years ago. The FPS primary antenna reflector is the only one left in NAS inventory and needs to be removed, refurbished and made available as a spare for future catastrophic failure of an Enroute radar facility, similar to the catastrophic failure at the Battle Mountain, NV (BAM) ARSR-2 radar antenna in December 2022.
This project proposes removal of the primary antenna reflector and replacing the stanchion structures, an antenna support structure and a ladder safety system that has the ability to carry the mechanical load of the six-foot beacon antenna array mount to the existing FPS turntable and provide local technicians with the ability to work on the antenna safely in the future. The installation of these stanchions and antenna support structure will allow the removal of the FPS Primary antenna removal and will maintain the six-foot secondary beacon antenna at its original commissioned height, to be completed by AJW-L500.
This project is scheduled to coincide and be completed in tandem with the regularly scheduled FPS pedestal and antenna maintenance (10 years) and completed by AJW-L500, so the delivery schedule is estimated at approximately 18-20 weeks.
