About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers record for the Coburn Gore Land Port of Entry (LPOE) Art in Architecture Project (Notice ID 0332CG-AIA), dated August 4, 2026.

The project is a brand-new federal art commission administered by the General Services Administration (GSA) for permanent, public-scale artwork at the Coburn Gore LPOE in Maine. The opportunity is open to all artistic materials and mediums, including sculpture, murals, illustrations, and framed pieces. Artists submit portfolios through the GSA National Artist Registry, with submission materials directed to nationalartistregistry@gsa.gov. The budget range for the art commission is $275,000 to $400,000, though the actual budget was not posted publicly, and the GSA department was instructed to submit only a range. The National Artist Registry maintains confidential artist records containing personally identifiable information and is not publicly accessible; artists seeking confirmation of previously submitted work must contact the Registry directly. Submission instructions and eligibility information are available through the GSA's Art in Architecture Program and National Artist Registry portal at https://www.gsa.gov/real-estate/fine-arts/art-in-architecture-program/national-artist-registry. All questions and answers were posted on SAM.gov on August 4, 2026.

RFI Number Question Answer Dated Posted on SAM.gov

1 Is there any incumbent/recompete or this is a brand-new project? If yes, could you please provide us with their award number or even if the customer bought similar services in the past.

This is a brand new project. 8/4/2026

2 I have reviewed the RFQ and gone to the submission page. I think I understand the criteria to submit however, how do I specify that I want our portfolio viewed specifically for the 0332CG-AIA Opportunity?

Email when submitting the requested materials to:

nationalartistregistry@gsa.gov

3 I am wondering about the visuals of my sculpture on file with the GSA? I looked on the GSA web site but i am not included in that list, so I don't know how else to see if my slides are still on file other than to ask you. I am very interested in being considered for the project in Maine. or do I have to reapply for this specific project?

The GSA National Artist Registry is not available to the public as it contains PII. Please send an email to: nationalartistregistry@gsa.gov if you wish to confirm which sculptures you previously submitted to the Registry.

4 I was wondering if you could help me find out more about the specifics of the proposed project at Coburn Gore LPOE? I wasn’t sure if this was open to mural arts or if it’s specifically for sculpture arts.

The opportunity is open to all materials/mediums. 8/4/2026

5 What is the actual budget for art in this project?

There was a range listed between $275-$400K, but elsewhere it was suggested it was 0.5% of the overall budget of $500K.

Our department was instructed to submit a range for this commission;

the actual budget was not to be posted.

6 What forms of artwork are you considering for this site?

I am an illustrator, not a sculptor, for example.

Would a mural be desirable, or framed pieces?

The opportunity is open to all materials/mediums. 8/4/2026

7 I am an artist in New Hampshire interested in learning more about how to submit a proposal to U.S. General Services Administration (Gsa) to create a permanent, public-scale artwork for the new Coburn Gore Land Port of Entry in Coburn Gore, Maine. Please advise on proper procedure as soon as possible.
