About this file
This Contract Award Notification Update, issued by the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Procurement Services on October 7, 2026, addresses frequently asked questions regarding statewide contract Award 23449, Group 01800. The document provides guidance to authorized users across New York State entities regarding the procurement of road salt and treated salt products under the centralized contract mechanism.
The contract covers Road Salt and Treated Salt Types 1 and 2 for the contract period of September 9, 2026 through August 31, 2027. Pricing and contractor assignments are county-specific and salt-type specific, with detailed information available in published award documents accessible through the OGS website. Authorized Users must meet minimum purchasing obligations with their assigned contractors by the contract end date; failure to do so results in contractor storage fees. The contract permits rejection of visibly wet or contaminated salt loads at delivery, with documentation required through photographic evidence or ASTM D632 sampling procedures. Entities may supplement purchases from alternative contractors while maintaining their minimum obligation with the awarded contractor. Late additions to the contract are subject to awarded contractor approval, and entities filing for incorrect salt types must seek approval from the OGS contract manager for modifications. The OGS contact for this award is Jamison Tamer at 518-473-2663 or OGS.sm.SST_roadsalt@ogs.ny.gov.
